The World Humanities Forum was initiated in 2011 by the Korean Ministry of Education, and UNESCO. It is organized and coordinated by the National Research Foundation of Korea, in conjunction with the local government of a different Korean city each Forum: this year, the host city is Suwon, Gyeonggi Province. The aim of the Forum is to provide an arena for an international dialogue on how to enhance the profile and contribution of the Humanities in an age of rapid change. This year’s the 4th World Humanities Forum will take place from October 27th to 29th, 2016 at Ajou University in Suwon. The theme the 2016 is “The Humanities of Hope.” The theme alludes to the hope that, in a time of civilizational crisis, humanistic introspection should help us recover the framework for a sustainable society.
